In today's rapidly evolving world, technology plays a pivotal role in shaping various aspects of our lives, particularly our the energy and subconscious minds.


Subconscious Programming: TV, Phones, Social Media


Did you know within the first 60 seconds of watching TV or scrolling on your phone, your brain enters an alpha brain wave state where your subconscious could be programmed. Research by Engstrom, London, and Hart (1974) found a correlation between hypnotic susceptibility and EEG Alpha Training. This suggests the alpha state can be leveraged for subconscious programming. Advertisers know this. That's why, when drug side effects are read aloud, music is played over them so you don't hear the warnings, but you clearly hear the conclusion instructing you to contact your doctor.


Have you ever noticed how children crave certain foods after seeing them advertised on TV, or want certain toys? Unknowingly we are subconsciously being programmed for various wants or needs.


Have you noticed child suicide rates have increased since social media has been introduced? From 2007 to 2021, youth suicide rates have increased by 62%! In the United States, suicide has become the second leading cause of premature death among those ages 10 to 24. It is the leading cause of death among teens ages 13 to 14. As Dr. Charles H. Hennekens explained in a Florida Atlantic University article, "During the years immediately preceding the onset of increases in rates of suicide among 13 and 14 year olds, several prominent social media platforms used by teens, including Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Tumblr were launched. In aggregate, all of these sites have grown to billions of users, but large as they are, by 2018, all but YouTube were surpassed in terms of teen use by Instagram and Snapchat." These tools can impact our children's minds and emotions. There is a great documentary called Social Dilemma on Netflix. Trailer below that is well worth watching with your children.




Everything is energy. When you watch something that incites fear it can:


Short Term


  • Lower Energetic Resonance: Fear vibrations lower vibrational frequency, making you feel more drained.

  • Contraction of Energy Field: Fear can make energetic field tighten and retract as it "protects" itself from perceived danger.

  • Vulnerability to external influences: when your energy field is disrupted, it may make it more susceptible in absorbing negative energy around you from the environment or people. Since just like a tuning fork we begin to tune to that energy.


Long Term:

  • Frequent exposure: can condition energetic state to stay in heightened state, which may contribute to chronic stress or fatigue.

  • Emotional imprinting: energetically your system may store those patterns, which may trigger subconscious reactions later. This is why a child who previously was never scared of the dark, suddenly is fearful.

  • Being aware of how they are using technology as a programming tool and to alter people's emotions, allows you to take your power back and make choices that are best for you. Awareness takes away their power, and informed choices dissolves it.



Video Games


Have you noticed a lot of the recent child shooters also played video games? Why are the same video games used to desensitize soldiers to violence being used by children?


The military uses recruitment games like: America's Army, Arma, Call of Duty in order to build familiarity with combat and desensitize players to violence. Platforms like Twitch have been used by military recruiters to engage teens as young as 13 years old. Further information on this, click here. Why are children being recruited this way by the military? Why are children being desensitized to violence? Studies have found (Source: APA Task Force on Violent Media, Queen Mary University of London) that long-term exposure to violent games may increase aggression, reduced empathy and prosocial behavior. There has been additional evidence that gamers make better soldiers. Click here for article. Could this be why children are being recruited through gaming platforms? Could we unintentionally be creating soldiers for tomorrow. Is this why we are finding a lot of young shooters, were avid video game players? The question to ponder is: through their video game exposure and its effect on the subconscious, were they being molded to become shooters?


Behavioral Monitoring

Recently, I became aware that on my children's phone, an application called recaptcha.net was running in the background. This is a program run by Google. Upon researching what this application does, I found out it is used for ensuring someone is human or not. Yet, if that is its purpose, why does it continue to operate in the background for the duration of the time they are playing a video game and then some.


Upon further research, I found not only does it verify if someone is human or not. It also monitors mouse movement (speed, hesitation, natural variations), keystroke timing, scrolling behavior, click timing, how long you stay on a page, your ip address, browser information and version, operating system...just to name a few. Even when I tried to disable this application, it still continued to run every time my son tried to open a form for school. Why is our children's behavior being monitored? Why are they collecting this information about them?

Blue Screen Exposure

Unfortunately, many schools are increasingly integrating technology into classrooms. Prolonged screen time raises important questions: How is this affecting children's learning? How does sitting in front of a blue screen for hours impact them emotionally? Is it affecting them physically?


A study of university students investigated how exposure to screens affects mental health. The results show a significant association between screen time and both anxiety and depression. According to the study, "The optimal cut-off value for predicting anxiety and depression based on electronic screen exposure time was found to be 6.5 hours." Link to article.


Most children spend 6 to 7 hours in school each day, often in front of screens, and then continue using screens at home for homework. This raises concerns about the impact of screen time on mental health, energy levels, and overall well-being.


Research also shows a link between eye damage and short-wave blue light with wavelengths between 415-455 nanometers. Most LEDs used in smartphones, TVs, and tablets emit light in the 400-490 nanometer range, putting eyes at risk. Link to research article.

Blue light exposure impacts our sleep. It disrupts the natural production of Melatonin (which is produced by our pineal gland in our brain) at night. Sleep is vital not only for children, but also for adults to stay healthy and at their optimal energy.


Blue Light Has Shorter Wavelength than Red Light


Even beyond children, workplaces continue to expect remote or continuous work at home, contributing to the rising rates of anxiety and depression.


Effects of Blue Screen Exposure

  • Mental health: Increased risk of anxiety and depression.

  • Sleep Disruption: Blue light interferes with circadian rhythm and melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep.

  • Physical Eye Strain: Prolonged exposure can lead to fatigue and discomfort. Extensive exposure to blue light can damage retinal cells and cause eye conditions such as cancer, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration.

  • Addictive: Activities like scrolling social media, watching videos, or playing games trigger dopamine, the brain's "reward chemical." This gives a sense of pleasure and encourages repeat engagement.



Conclusion

Unfortunately, screens have become a part of our society due to corporate giants pushing them into our lives. But we don't have to allow them to control us. Below are some steps you can take to limit your exposure and regain your energy.


Regulate Light Exposure

  • Morning sunlight helps to wake up the circadian clock.

  • Dim lights in the evening to avoid disrupting sleep and melatonin production. Use desk lamps or low-level lighting between 10:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m. Candlelight or moonlight can also be gentler than artificial lighting.

  • Where possible, avoid screen exposure in the evenings.


Eye Strain Relief

  • 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

  • Use blue light glasses or blue light screen protectors.

  • Dim phone or device screens.

  • Take many breaks, by stepping outside for walks, especially by nature.


The hope is that as awareness grows about the impact of blue screens, people will limit usage and return to paper, pens, and more in-person interactions, reducing isolation and improving overall well-being.
